SNAP limits on candy and soda after approval

Beginning 2026-11-01, Oklahoma’s DHS must ask USDA for a waiver to limit some SNAP purchases. If USDA approves, you cannot use SNAP to buy candy or soft drinks. DHS may also block other foods it calls nonnutritive, but only with federal approval. The state must start the new checkout rules within six months after federal approval. The waiver request must explain health reasons, show how store systems will block items, include education and outreach, and set up tracking and yearly reports to state leaders.
