High schools: four AP classes, online options

Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, every public high school must offer at least four AP classes. Each district board must each year make sure students can take AP courses in one of four ways: in-district, at a technology center, through the statewide online program, or in another district. The Statewide Charter School Board runs a statewide online platform with AP, STEM, and language courses for all districts. The State Department of Education gives boards materials to share with families about AP options and enrollment, and posts which option each district uses. The law takes effect July 1, 2026.

Districts must offer AP exams, post dates

Each school year, your district must make AP exams available to any student who lives in the district. By August 31, the district must post each AP exam date and how to register on its website, and state the exams are open to district residents. This starts July 1, 2026, for the 2026-2027 school year.
