The law stops use of state money for gender transition procedures. Oklahoma Medicaid does not cover them for adults or minors. State-owned hospitals, clinics, and buildings cannot provide them. If you relied on state help or a state clinic, you need a private provider or must pay yourself.
The law defines what counts as a gender transition procedure. It includes surgeries that change sex traits and drugs like puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones. It does not include counseling; depression or anxiety medicines; treatment for precocious or delayed puberty; care for people with disorders of sex development; treatment of complications; or emergency life‑saving care certified by a doctor. The law also defines public funds to include state appropriations, fees, fines, and other money state agencies collect. Agencies and providers use these definitions to apply the bans.
The law takes effect immediately upon passage and approval. A state officer or employee who intentionally violates it is guilty of a misdemeanor if convicted. The penalty applies only for intentional violations and after a criminal conviction.
