Schools get help to buy local food

Beginning November 1, 2026, Oklahoma runs a Local Food for Schools program. The Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry helps school districts buy food from Oklahoma producers and meat processors. Districts can get reimbursed for local food purchases, encouraging partnerships with local suppliers. The state creates a revolving fund, filled by legislative appropriations, to pay these costs. The Department can set rules to run the program.
