Lower electric vehicle fees for service members
Beginning July 1, 2026, qualifying active-duty uniformed service members pay no added fee when renewing an all-electric vehicle’s registration. They must be stationed outside Tennessee under orders from their branch of service. Stations at military reservations spanning Tennessee and another state do not qualify. The vehicle must be titled and registered in the member’s name, alone or jointly with a spouse or lineal relative. A lineal relative is a direct ancestor or descendant, such as a parent or child. Members must give the county clerk a copy of their official stationing orders at renewal. The law does not state the fee amount.
