Ten-year deadline for Tennessee vehicular homicide cases

Beginning July 1, 2026, Tennessee requires prosecutors to begin covered vehicular homicide cases within 10 years of the offense. This applies only to offenses committed on or after that date. The clock starts when the offense occurs, not when it is discovered. This deadline overrides the general prosecution time limit; earlier offenses remain under the existing rules.
