One-time $2,000 bonus for teachers

The Department of Education pays a one-time bonus of at least $2,000 to each teacher who worked in the 2024–2025 school year at a public school or public charter. This applies only if, on the law’s effective date, the district or charter had not already received this funding. The local board or charter governing body must adopt the required resolution and send it to the department within 21 calendar days of the law’s effective date. Bonuses are paid only if the legislature provides the money. For this bonus, “teacher” uses the same meaning as the state’s “existing educator” definition in Tennessee law.
