Noncitizens can get their own police records

Beginning July 1, 2026, noncitizens can ask to see or get a copy of a police record that is only about them. You must send a written request that names the record. You must include a copy of a valid government photo ID and a signed affidavit saying the record is only about you. Police cannot release records that are confidential by law, protected under Rule 16 in criminal cases, or covered by the investigative privilege. You may have to pay reasonable copy or production costs.
