Utah expands grants for accessible outdoor recreation

Beginning May 6, 2026, Utah’s outdoor recreation grants cover building or improving trails and facilities, or buying equipment, to improve access for disabled or adaptive users. Eligible projects also include trails, water recreation, wildlife watching, winter recreation, community parks with outdoor recreation features, and natural-looking, accessible playgrounds. For infrastructure grants, public access must follow federal and state rules, and no community or group can have exclusive access. Children’s outdoor recreation and education grants serve ages 6 through 18. The underserved community definition includes economically disadvantaged municipalities, counties, and American Indian tribes, plus economically disadvantaged communities whose children have limited access to outdoor recreation or education programs, including children with disabilities. The law sets no grant amount and provides no new funding.
