Ongoing teacher grants require local matching funds

Beginning May 6, 2026, Utah’s teacher-leadership grant program loses its pilot label and July 1, 2028 end date. Local and regional education agencies can compete for grants supporting teacher leadership, including extra pay for added duties. The State Board of Education receives a one-time $2.4 million from the Public Education Economic Stabilization Restricted Account. This funds budget year 2027, from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Agencies must provide matching funds: 10% for tier 1, 15% for tier 2, and 20% for tier 3. Grants depend on legislative funding, and the law sets no payment amount for individual teachers.
