Commercial trailer owners get lifetime fee options

Beginning January 1, 2026, Utah offers $130 lifetime registration and plates for intrastate commercial trailers, excluding travel trailers. Owners with this registration can separately choose a one-time $150 fee instead of property tax. Both options last for the trailer’s life only while the registered owner possesses it. Owners must still file an annual certificate showing payment of property tax or a replacement fee. Whether the $150 option saves money depends on the property tax otherwise due.
