Homeowners gain rights to remove vegetation

Beginning May 6, 2026, Utah protects vegetation removal in designated wildland-urban interface areas. Cities and counties cannot block removal needed to meet defensible-space requirements under the state's adopted International Wildland Urban Interface Code. Homeowners associations cannot block lot owners from removing vegetation in those designated areas. The association limit does not require removal to be needed for defensible space.
