More funding for Utah Marriage Commission

Beginning May 6, 2026, the Utah Marriage Commission's share of eligible marriage-license fees rises from $400,000 to $600,000. This applies to counties with online marriage applications that charge the extra $20 fee and send proceeds to the state annually. The first $600,000 supports commission operations; proceeds above that cap go to the state General Fund. This funding change does not raise applicants' fees or provide a new appropriation. Counties cannot send the $20 to the state when both applicants certify completion of qualifying premarital counseling or education.
