Parents get alerts after failed vision screenings

Beginning July 1, 2026, Utah school agencies must notify parents within 30 days after failed tier one vision screenings. This applies to children ages 3 through 15 attending the agency or a school within it. Notice can come by phone, email, or another agency-approved method. Nonprofit screening providers contracted by school agencies may also send home information about resources and getting follow-up vision care. These extra notices are optional, and this law does not require families to get follow-up care.
