Covered mobile mammograms for rural residents

Beginning January 1, 2027, health plans that cover mammograms must also cover approved mobile screenings in qualifying rural Utah counties. These are third-, fourth-, fifth-, or sixth-class counties. The mobile vehicle must have mammography equipment and approval from an accrediting body designated by the federal Food and Drug Administration. Plans must pay the same rate as an in-network mammogram in another setting. The unit must accept that payment and your plan's applicable cost sharing as payment in full. The unit must follow U.S. Preventive Services Task Force guidelines on screening age and frequency.
