Utah studies wetlands and posts permits

Beginning May 6, 2026, Utah’s Department of Natural Resources must post wetlands land use permits collected by the Utah Geological Survey online. The department must also study wetlands in first- and second-class counties. The study covers wetland changes, including possible changes in classification under federal law. It examines effects on outdoor recreation, including duck and other game bird hunting, and water quality in nearby rivers and lakes. It must recommend legislative and agency action. The department must send findings and recommendations to the Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment Interim Committee. A progress report is due before November 30, 2026; the completed study and final report are due before October 30, 2027. The law provides no new funding.
