Fewer local mowing bans for golf courses

Beginning May 6, 2026, Utah cities and counties cannot pass or enforce ordinances banning golf course mowing or trimming between 5:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. City rules cover courses wholly or partly within city limits; county rules cover courses in unincorporated areas. Both privately owned and government-owned courses are covered. The county protection also covers related work needed for routine upkeep. Each city or county can still restrict maintenance at courses it owns, at any time. Operators gain protection from local bans, while nearby residents lose some local control over maintenance hours.
