More tuition help for Purple Heart veterans

Beginning May 6, 2026, Utah raises Purple Heart veterans’ total graduate tuition waiver cap from $10,000 to $15,000. The law also removes the deadline to apply within 10 years after finishing an undergraduate degree. You must be a Utah resident enrolled in a graduate degree program, including full-time, part-time, or summer study. You must submit verification of your Purple Heart status from Utah’s Department of Veterans and Military Affairs. The waiver covers in-state tuition, not fees. It lasts until degree completion or five years after acceptance to the program, whichever comes first.
