New study of software Utah students use

Beginning July 1, 2026, Utah's State Board of Education must study software and digital services used in public schools. The study covers learning results, state learning standards, student-data privacy and security, addictive features, and advertising or commercial exploitation risks. Before July 1, 2027, the board must publish guidance on learning, safety, and privacy and send it to every local education agency. Schools do not have to adopt the guidance. The board must report on the study and guidance to the Education Interim Committee only if the committee requests it.
