Beginning May 6, 2026, Utah no longer requires a sunrise review application before lawmakers introduce bills to regulate an occupation. Applications must explain the need to prevent current, clear, serious harm to public health, safety, or finances and identify the least restrictive protection. Occupation representatives who submit applications must pay a nonrefundable $500 filing fee. All application fees go to Utah’s General Fund. The law provides no new funding.
