New recovery-ready certification for Utah workplaces

Beginning May 6, 2026, Utah’s health department can create a recovery-ready workplace certification program, consulting with Workforce Services. If established, the department must set an application process and standards that employers must meet to earn certification. Standards can cover substance-use prevention, treatment support, employee education and input, overdose-reversal drugs, and policies supporting health and work–life balance. The voluntary program depends on funding and does not guarantee workers payments, paid leave, or wage increases. Nicotine and electronic-cigarette account money is available only with legislative approval and after earlier-priority distributions; no funding amount is set.
