Cemeteries gain more burial building options

Wyoming cemeteries have more material choices for burial structures wholly or partly above ground, including columbariums and mausoleums. Exterior walls and roofs may use granite, marble, slate, sandstone, limestone, concrete block masonry, or similar structurally sound materials. Structural soundness and resistance to outdoor weather replace the six-inch minimum thickness rule. Exterior doors may use those stones, bronze, aluminum alloys, or materials with similar properties. Interiors may use those stones, concrete, or similar materials that provide structural strength. Structures must remain within cemeteries covering at least five acres that operated for at least five years immediately before construction. The Wyoming Department of Health must approve plans and specifications, which must name and number the building's sections and spaces. The law took effect immediately upon completion of the constitutional enactment process.
