The law provides $10.5 million from Wyoming’s general fund for property tax refunds to residents who qualify under the existing program. Funding runs from the law’s immediate effective date through June 30, 2026; the law sets no individual refund amount. The Department of Revenue cannot transfer or spend this money for another purpose. Funds neither spent nor committed return as required by law on June 30, 2026. This funding falls dollar-for-dollar for refund-program appropriations in 2025 Senate File 0001 or House Bill 0001 if those acts become law.
Effective immediately, Wyoming’s Department of Revenue sets the order when multiple exemptions under W.S. 39-11-105(a) apply to one property. Exemptions covering part of the assessed value apply one after another, using the value left after earlier exemptions. Percentage exemptions apply from the smallest percentage to the largest. Exemptions not based on a percentage apply after percentage exemptions. This calculation can affect taxable value, but the law does not guarantee a lower tax bill.
