Water operators join local emergency planning
Wyoming includes certified water and wastewater operators as emergency responders when they directly act on specified incidents. These include hazardous material releases, weapons of mass destruction incidents, and investigations of illegal labs. Local homeland security plans must coordinate with every certified operator needed to provide emergency and public safety services. Private facilities with on-site emergency response capabilities remain excluded unless the state or a local government formally requests off-site help. The law took effect upon completion of the steps required to become law.
