Beginning July 1, 2026, Wyoming removes specified limits on adding beds at hospitals and nursing care facilities. The law does not require construction or guarantee more beds. Licensed health care facilities must submit construction, alteration, or addition plans for preliminary inspection and approval before work begins. They must also submit significant changes before making them, and plans and changes must show any bed increases. The health department's division may use this information only to check compliance with health care and life safety rules. By September 1, 2029, the Department of Health must report to the Joint Labor, Health and Social Services Interim Committee. The report must cover nursing care facility construction and whether the law helps or harms hospitals and nursing care facilities.
