Wyoming redirects tax penalties from schools

Effective immediately upon becoming law, Wyoming changes where penalties for missing certain property-tax statements go. This applies to statements required by W.S. 39-13-107(a)(ii)(A) or (B). Collected penalties now go to the state treasurer and are credited under W.S. 8-1-109, replacing the school foundation account allocation. Penalties remain capped at $500 plus $100 for each day of noncompliance. The attorney general collects them through a court action requested by the Department. The Department can still waive penalties through a settlement or for other good cause. The law states no revenue amount and makes no direct change to household payments or benefits.
