In Wyoming, most noncompete terms that restrict earning pay for skilled or unskilled work are void in contracts made on or after July 1, 2025. Exceptions cover business or business-asset sales, trade-secret protection, and repayment of employer-paid relocation, education, or training costs. The ban also excludes executives, managers, officers, and professional staff serving executives or managers. Allowed expense recovery is capped at 100% for service under 2 years, 66% from 2 to under 3 years, and 33% from 3 to under 4 years. Contracts made before July 1, 2025, are unchanged.
Wyoming's rule covers employment, partnership, or corporate agreements between physicians made on or after July 1, 2025. Terms restricting a physician's medical practice become void when their employment, partnership, or corporate affiliation ends. Other legally enforceable parts of the agreement remain in place. Agreements made before July 1, 2025, are unchanged.
Beginning July 1, 2025, Wyoming physicians may share their continued practice and new professional contact details with rare disorder patients. This applies after their employment or affiliation ends, or a covered physician noncompete is voided. The physician must have treated or consulted with the patient before leaving. Neither the physician nor employer owes damages to a party to the prior agreement for that disclosure or later treatment.
