Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 4 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Faster Wyoming licenses for military families

Wyoming boards must ask about military status on license applications and renewals, record answers, and begin processing immediately after receiving proof. Eligible service members and spouses with relevant, active out-of-state licenses in good standing must receive expedited licenses within 30 days of a completed application. Without a completed application, the 30-day deadline applies when the applicant has held that license for at least five consecutive years. Applicants must provide military identification or marriage-license proof, plus Wyoming service orders or evidence of honorable release. Covered service members include active members and those honorably released within two years before applying. Boards must adopt rules for online applications and accepting licenses from other jurisdictions; the law takes effect upon enactment and covers applications filed from that date.

Fee-free temporary licenses for military families

Wyoming offers two fee-free ways for eligible military members and spouses to practice while seeking a state license. Boards may grant temporary practice permits to applicants who meet the referenced out-of-state license requirements and have applied for Wyoming licensing. Applicants must make progress on unmet requirements; permits end after three years or when the license is granted or denied, whichever comes first. Boards must issue a temporary license after receiving a completed application from someone with a relevant, active out-of-state license in good standing for at least three consecutive years. That temporary license allows practice for no more than 90 days while the application is pending.

Interstate emergency medical licensing for military families

Wyoming must process covered emergency medical services license applications through its interstate licensing compact. This applies to veterans, service members other than National Guard members, and National Guard members separating from an active-duty tour. Spouses of those applicants are also covered. The compact provides a licensing pathway for these military-connected applicants.

Military training counts toward Wyoming licenses

Wyoming licensing boards must consider a service member's relevant military education, training, and experience when checking education and training requirements. Covered service includes the armed forces, reserves, any state's National Guard, and any state's naval militia. This can help applicants qualify without repeating training they already received. Other licensing standards remain in place, including Wyoming practice, discipline, and continuing-education requirements.
