Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

Enroll in treatment outside your county

Court supervised treatment programs can accept participants from any Wyoming jurisdiction. You can enroll in a program outside your home county. This opens more spots and options across the state.

More mental health care in court programs

The law adds mental health treatment to court supervised treatment programs. Courts and program teams can offer or require counseling, therapy, and related care. People with mental health needs can get help while in these programs.

Public defenders join treatment teams

Public defenders can serve on court treatment teams. They can also represent people in these programs, including during sanctions or expulsion hearings. This gives participants steady legal help throughout the program.

New court rules and terms now effective

The Wyoming Supreme Court can set rules to run these programs and include funding needs in its budget request. The law updates and clarifies program terms and definitions. It also removes some older program rules. All of these updates take effect immediately.
