Notice before canceling your voter registration

Beginning July 1, 2025, the county clerk must mail you a notice before canceling your voter registration. The mailed notice goes to the address on the registry list and must state the reason. The clerk may also send the notice by email. The notice must say cancellation happens in 20 days unless you ask to stay on the list. No mailed notice is required if you registered to vote in another place and the clerk got that receipt, or if you asked in writing to cancel. The clerk keeps a copy of the cancellation notice for 3 years.
