New certification path for Wyoming K-12 teachers

The law took effect immediately and requires Wyoming's Professional Teaching Standards Board to set rules for an alternative K-12 teacher certificate. Applicants need a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and must complete a board-approved program or pathway. That program or pathway can be accredited or nonaccredited. Applicants must pass at least four exams: subject area, teaching methods, U.S. Constitution, and Wyoming Constitution. Certificates cover only the subject areas and grade levels successfully completed. Applicants can apply for school district jobs while enrolled in the pathway or after completing it.
