LABEL Act
Sponsored By: Representative Moore, Tim [R-NC-14]
Introduced
Summary
Clear front-of-package labels that combine country-of-origin and whether fish is farm-raised or wild. The bill would amend the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 to require fish carry a conspicuous, single designation joining country of origin and "wild" or "farm-raised", require that this label use a font at least as large as the product type descriptor, and place the label on the front of consumer packages, with a one-year compliance window.

New labels for farm-raised and wild fish
If enacted, one year after enactment businesses that make, import, package, distribute, or sell farm‑raised or wild fish would need new labeling. The required information must appear in a conspicuous place likely to be read under normal purchase conditions. The country of origin and the farm‑raised or wild designation would be combined into a single label, use font at least as large as the farm/wild text, and go on the front of consumer packages. Shoppers would see clearer origin and production information, and businesses would face label and packaging costs to comply.
