New Secretary to Oversee Coast Guard
If enacted, this would create a new Secretary of the Coast Guard. The President would appoint the Secretary, and the Senate would confirm. The new Secretary would report directly to the department's Secretary, without going through other officials. The Coast Guard Commandant would report to the new Secretary. This is an internal leadership change and would not change household taxes or benefits.
