Sponsored By: Representative Biggs, Andy [R-AZ-5]

Introduced

Summary

Extends presidential control over the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department from 30 days to 180 days. The bill would amend Section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act by replacing every instance of "thirty days" with "180 days" and by changing the "thirty-day" phrasing in subsection (a). It would also apply that longer period to emergencies the President declared before the law takes effect. No other substantive changes to the Home Rule Act are included.
