Introduced
Summary
Preempt state rules on how federal officers dress. The Uniform Standards Protection Act of 2025 would bar States from imposing any requirement about the wearing of a uniform by a Federal law enforcement officer. The bill uses the meaning in 18 U.S.C. 115(c) and specifically includes officers or employees who enforce the immigration laws as defined in section 101 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Limit state uniform rules for federal officers
The bill would block states from setting any rules about what uniforms federal law enforcement officers must wear. It would apply to officers covered by 18 U.S.C. 115(c) and would also include officers or employees who enforce immigration laws. If a state case about a conflicting uniform rule is pending on the day this becomes law, that case would stop. If enacted, this would take effect upon enactment.
