RIDE FAST Act

In Committee
Summary
Would extend the federal authorization for intercity passenger rail grants to fiscal year 2032. The bill replaces the 2026 cutoff in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Section 22106(a) with 2032, so eligible intercity rail grant programs remain authorized for six more years. It preserves the current program structure, rules, funding levels, and eligibility while extending the authorization.

Extend intercity rail grants through 2032
If enacted, this would extend the legal authority for certain intercity passenger rail grants from 2026 to 2032. It would not add new money by itself. Congress would still need to approve funds each year. States and rail providers could keep applying for these grants. Riders and communities could see projects continue if funding is later appropriated.
