Ban on tampering with pill press serials
If enacted, it would be illegal to remove, change, or erase a required serial number on a pill press, encapsulator, or covered part when you have reason to think a number is required. It would also be illegal to buy, sell, ship, or hold such items if you know the serial number was altered and have reason to think a number is required. These bans would apply only after the Attorney General’s rules take effect.
Serial number rules for pill-press businesses
If enacted, businesses that make, sell, import, export, or broker pill presses, encapsulators, or key parts would face new tracking rules. They would have to put a permanent serial number on each machine or covered part, on a nonremovable part. They would also have to keep records and report sales or transfers, including the serial number. The Attorney General would have to issue rules within 180 days, and the new duties would start only after those rules take effect. The bill defines critical parts as an upper punch, a lower punch, and a die; guidance would let compliant pre-enactment numbers count.
