Fight Illicit Pill Presses Act

New rules for pill press makers and sellers

If enacted, the bill would expand who counts as a regulated person. It would include makers, sellers, importers, exporters, and brokers of listed chemicals, pill-making machines, and critical parts. It would require covered machines and critical parts to have a permanent serial number on a nonremovable part. Reports of regulated transactions would have to include that serial number. The bill would ban removing, altering, or obliterating required serial numbers. It would also ban selling, transporting, or importing an item when you know its serial number was removed or changed. The Attorney General would have 180 days to write rules and guidance for older machines. The bill defines "critical part" to mean an upper punch, a lower punch, or a die.
