- DoD suicide-prevention policies, points of contact, and referral protocols would be collected and integrated so members in crisis can be directed to available resources.
- Outreach would include contact information for organizations and accredited agents or attorneys recognized under title 38, sections 5902 and 5904 to help members prepare and file disability compensation claims.

More transition outreach for service members
If you are leaving the military, VA would call you once between 210 and 120 days before you separate. The call would tell you about transitional health care under 10 U.S.C. 1145. VA would give contact information for the VA medical center nearest your permanent home. VA would also give contact information for an organization representative or lawyer who can help with filing a disability claim. VA would coordinate Solid Start outreach with the Department of Defense. VA would collect DoD suicide-prevention contacts and referral protocols to inform members in crisis. VA could use text or email to schedule the call or try other ways to reach you if phone calls fail.
