Veteran Benefits Enhancement Act
Sponsored By: Representative Stansbury
Introduced
Summary
Would exclude military retirement pay from being treated as a social insurance payment under the Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act. It would do this by referencing the tax code's “qualified military benefit” definition and leave other funding, eligibility, and enforcement rules in the Act unchanged.

Military pay won't cut railroad unemployment
If you get Railroad Unemployment Insurance and also receive a qualified military benefit (like military retirement pay), your military pay would not be counted as another social insurance payment. That means your railroad unemployment checks could be reduced less or not at all. This applies only to “qualified military benefits” defined in 26 U.S.C. 134(b). If enacted, this change would take effect upon enactment.
