Permanent resident relief for Ingrid Encalada Latorre
If enacted, this would let Ingrid Encalada Latorre apply for a green card. She would need to file the visa or status application and pay fees within 2 years after enactment. If she entered the U.S. before that filing deadline, she would be treated as having entered lawfully for this purpose and could seek adjustment as of the enactment date, if she meets other requirements. DHS would not be allowed to remove her, deny admission, or block her green card based on grounds already in DHS or State Department records on the enactment date. DHS would also have to cancel any past removal, deportation, or inadmissibility orders based on those recorded grounds.
One fewer visa for her birth country
If she is granted a green card or immigrant visa, the State Department would cut her birth country’s visa total by one. The cut would happen in the current or next fiscal year. This could delay or block one other person from that country from getting a visa.
