VA home loan fee refunds for veterans
If enacted, the bill would require the VA to treat a housing loan fee collected in violation of the rules as an overpayment. The VA would either refund that fee or apply it as a credit to the loan balance. The bill would also require the VA to collect the normal loan fee when a veteran applies while a disability claim is pending. If that disability claim is later approved and the veteran receives disability compensation, the VA would reimburse the fee after the veteran paid it.
