Study of cybersecurity help for small businesses
This bill would require the Comptroller General (GAO) to study federal cybersecurity help for small businesses (as defined by the Small Business Act). The study would identify common cyberattacks and assess small-business preparedness. It would examine planning, mitigation, and recovery practices, including training, protocols, tools, and infrastructure. The study would list the federal programs and services examined, measure small businesses' awareness and use of them, assess program coordination and effectiveness, identify any missing foundational cybersecurity concepts, and give recommendations to improve awareness, coordination, and effectiveness. GAO would report its findings to the House and Senate small business committees. The bill would not authorize any new funding to carry out the study.
