Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives on Nelson Mandela International Day.

Sponsored By: Representative Johnson, Henry C. "Hank" [D-GA-4]

Introduced

Summary

Honor Nelson Mandela's legacy and promote peace, tolerance, democracy, human rights, and reconciliation. This resolution would recount Mandela's life—from his 1918 birth and anti‑apartheid activism through 27 years in prison, release, presidency, and advocacy on HIV/AIDS—and applaud the United Nations for designating Nelson Mandela International Day. It would recognize his global impact, express support for the UN observance, and urge Americans to reflect on Mandela's commitment to nonviolence, dialogue, and reconciliation.
