More Medicare coverage for ultrasound
If enacted, Medicare would add diagnostic ultrasound tests to its diagnostic imaging definition. This change would apply to services furnished on or after January 1, 2027. If you are on Medicare and get ultrasound imaging that meets Medicare rules, you could pay less out of pocket. Providers could bill Medicare for covered ultrasound tests.
Separate Medicare fee for portable ultrasound
If enacted, Medicare would pay a separate Part B fee for portable ultrasound transport and set up. Payments would follow the same manner and extent as separate payments now paid for portable X-ray transport and set up. The Secretary would set supplier requirements substantially like current portable X-ray supplier rules. These changes would apply to services furnished on or after January 1, 2027.
