Periodic review of military life insurance
This bill would require the Department of Veterans Affairs to complete a review on January 1, 2026. It would repeat the review every five years. Each review would compare the automatic maximum SGLI and VGLI coverage to a target amount. The target equals $500,000 times the five-year average percent change in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers. The VA would send the review results to the House and Senate Veterans' Affairs committees. The results could guide coverage increases under the existing administrative incremental process.
