State jobs count work-based learning
Beginning August 12, 2026, state hiring rules accept work-based learning as valid experience. The Department of Personnel identifies targeted entry-level positions tied to the program’s curriculum. Graduates who meet the program’s course requirements are prepared for these roles. This can improve hiring chances, but it does not promise a job or set pay.
New pathways program to state jobs
Beginning August 12, 2026, the Department of Personnel runs the Pathways to Public Service Program. Schools and colleges can choose to take part. The Department works with education and workforce agencies to align work-based learning with state jobs. It helps identify courses and credentials that may qualify students for entry-level state roles. The law does not guarantee a job.
