Cold Case Task Force extended to 2039

Beginning August 12, 2026, the task force no longer ends on September 1, 2026. The law sets a new repeal date of September 1, 2039. A related statute subsection is removed on September 1, 2041. This keeps the task force running for many more years.

More family and expert seats on Cold Case Task Force

Beginning August 12, 2026, the task force adds two family representatives picked by the senate president. The governor appoints a forensic pathologist. The executive director can appoint an expert in emerging technologies. These appointed seats use three-year, staggered terms so many do not end in the same year.
