Higher worker burial allowance, but transportation capped

Beginning July 1, 2025, Idaho employers must pay up to $10,000 total for funeral, burial or cremation, and transportation expenses. Coverage applies when an employee dies from a work injury within four years of the injury. This replaces a $6,000 funeral allowance plus separately covered actual transportation costs, putting transportation under the combined cap. Transportation is no longer limited to the employee’s home in the United States or Canada. Payment goes to the person entitled to workers’ compensation or, if none, to the deceased worker’s personal representative.
