Idaho homeowners face new identification requirement

Effective January 1, 2025, homeowners generally must provide an Idaho driver's license or state ID number for the homestead tax exemption. Applicants who have lived in Idaho less than 90 days and lack either credential have 90 days after applying to provide the number. Active-duty homeowners are exempt from this requirement on their initial application. The military exception also covers continued claims during military absences from a previously exempt home, with annual reapplication required.
