Safety fund supports Louisiana seafood promotion

The law directs Imported Seafood Safety Fund money to Louisiana’s Department of Agriculture and Forestry. The department uses it to enforce seafood laws and run a program to market and promote Louisiana seafood. The law removes the word “solely” from the spending rule but still lists these two uses. It sets no funding amount and changes no taxes or fees. It takes effect upon the governor’s signature or when the deadline for becoming law without signature passes. After a veto override, it takes effect the next day.
